MOKA POT

Updated on

If you're looking for a quick and easy way to brew a rich and flavourful cup of coffee, a moka pot might be just what you need! Also known as a stovetop espresso maker, a moka pot uses steam pressure to extract the coffee's natural oils and flavours, resulting in a delicious cup of coffee that's stronger than drip coffee but not as strong as espresso. In this guide, we'll walk you through the basics of brewing with a moka pot, including the materials you'll need and the steps to follow to brew the perfect cup. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or a beginner, a moka pot is a great addition to any coffee lover's collection.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Moka pot
  • Spring Valley Coffee Espresso beans
  • Coffee grinder (optional)
  • Water
  • Stovetop or hot plate

Instructions:

  1. Fill the bottom chamber of your moka pot with cold water up to just below the safety valve. Avoid overfilling the pot, as this can cause it to malfunction.
  2. Grind your coffee beans to a medium-fine consistency. If you don't have a grinder, you can purchase pre-ground coffee, but freshly ground beans will yield a more flavourful cup of coffee.
  3. Add the coffee grounds to the basket in the middle of the moka pot. Do not tamp the grounds down, as this can cause the pot to become clogged.
  4. Screw the top chamber onto the bottom chamber, making sure it's tightly sealed.
  5. Place the moka pot on a stovetop or hot plate and heat it over medium heat. Be sure to keep an eye on the pot as it brews, as it can quickly boil over and create a mess.
  6. Once the coffee starts to brew and fills the top chamber, remove the pot from the heat and give it a quick stir. This helps to evenly distribute the coffee and create a richer flavour.
  7. Pour the coffee into your favourite mug and enjoy! You can add milk or sweetener if desired.
  8. I hope you find this guide helpful and enjoy your delicious cup of coffee!
